Archie

MEET ARCHIE!

Hello there. I'm Archie, the strikingly handsome 5.5-year-old mixed breed on a quest to find my special forever home.

I'm this unique mix (staffy, rottie, border collie, and shepherd) creating a perfect blend of awesome. Yeah, I'm a bit of a super mutt, and my good looks are just the beginning.

I have the potential to be a wonderful soul dog and loyal best friend. But here's the scoop – I'm not your typical social butterfly. Interacting with strangers or socializing at house parties? No thank you. I'm more of a one-on-one kind of pup.

Now, let's talk about my journey. I was adopted through HFP when I was just a pup, around 4 months old. Life was good, but sometimes things change, and my family had to make a tough decision. You see, I felt a bit uneasy around the toddler in the home, and it led to a subsequent bite.

But here's the silver lining – I have so much love and loyalty to offer. If you're okay with a dog that prefers a quieter, more laid-back lifestyle, I could be your perfect match.

I may not be the life of the party, but I'll be your rock, your confidant, your loyal companion. Together, we can create a bond that goes beyond the need for constant socializing.

From the humans:

Archie is still a GREAT dog with many wonderful qualities and will be an amazing addition to the right person/environment:

  • Kid-free, quieter adult home

  • Currently lives with cats

  • Treat and toy motivated

  • Has done well meeting dogs with proper intros (would not recommend dogs in the home due to resource guarding); while Archie is not a “dog park dog” — (please note HFP does not recommend dog parks for dog-socialization) — he has done well meeting and interacting with friendly dogs and has a small-dog friend he does well with!

  • House-trained; no separation anxiety

  • Moderate activity level; perfect combo of playful and couch potato

  • Loves balls and this comes in handy when introducing new people to Archie; after slow proper intros, tossing the ball with Archie becomes a fun way to bond with him. People should be instructed to go slow — first ignore, not reach or pet, respect his body language throughout — luckily treats and balls help win Archie’s heart over within a few minutes!

  • “Archie does totally fine unattended in the house for long periods of time (~8 hours is no problem) — we make sure he goes potty before we leave, and we make sure he has access to his bed, water and some chewies while we’re gone”

  • Archie has done puppy training in the past - his impressive list of cues includes Sit, Down, Place (he goes to his bed/designated place), Paw (shake), Do Your Business, and Wait (when you want him to sit when putting his food down, etc.)

  • Healthy with no physical issues or concerns

  • Enjoys long walks where he can sniff everything and  playing fetch with balls and sticks! He is a little too into rocks (so a rock-free backyard would be ideal)

  • “Archie is a world-class snuggler (he likes to be little spoon!), an all-star fetcher, and also a giant couch potato. He loves his people SO much, and everyone who gets to know him thinks he is just the sweetest, most fun boy. We want him to find the best home possible - he truly deserves it!”

  • The ideal home for Archie is calm and low-stress, without kids and other dogs. The home has a (ideally, rock-free) backyard and is in a low foot traffic area. His owners are loving, patient, and dog-savvy -- they can continue to invest in Archie's training and help him be successful when being introduced to new people. He is in a home with lots of treats, balls, and snuggles!

Archie’s adoption donation is SPONSORED with an available $200 voucher from HFP towards enrolling with a certified trainer to get started on the right foot!
